The brainchild of driver turned promoter Raimonds Strokšs and first run to great acclaim in 2013, Rally Latvia (previously Rally Liepāja) was a winter event but switched to autumn in 2016 for more guaranteed weather. The new date made for an all-new rally as crews adjusted to gravel roads free of snow and ice. Although the time of year had changed, the high-speed stages in western Latvia continued to thrill drivers and fans. Organisers of this forward-thinking event made more changes for 2019 by moving to May and expanding the route to take in popular stages around the Talsi region. Building on years of success as an FIA European Rally Championship round, Latvia made the step up to WRC in 2024. Top 3 Highlights • The opening ceremony on Thursday (18 July) evening at the Biķernieki track in Riga, Latvia’s capital city. Grab some autographs from the drivers before they start the rally. • The service park, located right next to the Baltic Sea in Liepāja. Access is free to all spectators. Get up close as teams work on the cars or follow the action live on the screens in the specially created fan zone. • The element of unknown. As an all-new event for WRC, it’s a brand=new challenge for most of the drivers and co-drivers. Service Park Located right next to the Baltic Sea in Liepāja, in the area near the Liepāja Northern Breakwater. The service park is situated at Atmodas Boulevard 14 and covers a total area of 70,000 square metres.
